“As one of the only Historically Black Colleges and Universities to offer varsity Triathlon, our team considers ourselves trailblazers and are excited to have the opportunity to shape the future of our sport. I love helping young women progress and grow as athletes and individuals.” -Coach Hannah, Delaware State University.
“I had the opportunity to train with a coach for draft-legal triathlon before participating in it at the NCAA Level. Because of that, I was more prepared physically and had a full understanding of NCAA Triathlon. I am so excited to be a member of this team! -Danielle Fleurima, Sophomore- Delaware State University.
Lenoir Rhyne University triathlon team – “The main priority of our team is to continue to have excellent team dynamics. The athletes here love each other and are very supportive of each other. We do a lot of team activities together beyond training. We really are a tight knit team, even though we are one of the bigger programs. We have a Men’s and Women’s team, as well as a developmental/club team and a Varsity team, so we have room for all ability levels, as long as you are committed to being the best teammate. I believe our great team culture is the foundation to our athletic success. The athletes show up every day to every practice, fully dedicated to reach their best potential. They hold each other accountable to always give their all. They don’t want to disappoint each other. I also believe that a happy, non-stressed athlete is going to perform better than one that is not excited to train and race. I therefore strive to make sure practice is the best part of everyone’s day.
As a coach, I am committed to showing up and doing everything within my power to ensure that my athletes reach their full potential as an athlete, and have the best possible 4 years. I am committed to developing lifelong athletes and hope that they continue to compete well beyond their college years. The team will keep working hard to maintain our position as the top division II school in the country, while being excellent students and having a great time.” - Harley Mason, Head Coach- Lenoir Rhyne University, D3 National Champions
I am so grateful to be a part of the Lenoir Rhyne University triathlon team. I have teammates that push me through hard workouts and a coach who challenges my abilities and believes me, it helps me grow not only as an athlete, but also as a person.”
-Eliska Rihova (National freshman of the year 2022)
From a High School athlete: “Cross-training with triathlon during high school helped me become disciplined and show fortitude in all aspects of my life. As a high school senior, I had multiple choices to compete collegiately as a swimmer, runner and triathlete. As a runner; swimming and cycling allow me to gain extra fitness without the wear and tear on my body. I didn’t choose to compete in triathlon in college, however I feel that the variety in my training has allowed me to stay hungry as an athlete. Triathlon is a secret weapon.” - Ben Blaumeiser, Ohio Wesleyan University- XCTF
“I want to provide a FUN collegiate triathlon experience, while at the same time build a competitive program with young women who are willing to work hard to level up.” - Coach Jeff Boyer, Head Coach- St. Thomas Aquinas College
“I love triathlon racing because it’s as much fun as you can get! It’s super hard, but when you cross that finish line, it’s an incredible feeling you don’t get anywhere else. Coach Jeff has improved our program, and made it so much fun. We have a great swim facility and we have wonderful rides and runs that make me feel really prepared to race. The school and faculty are amazing, you make a lot of connections and settle in quickly. I love being a Spartan, I am proud of being a Spartan.” -Hanna Jung, Junior- St. Thomas Aquinas College
“I started coaching collegiate athletes in 2010 and it was during that time I discovered what I was meant to do. The collegiate experience is a time in life where development as a person and athlete is so powerful. It not only sets you up for top success in athletics, but also a career and relationships. The University of San Francisco attracts inspiring diversity. I love learning about each athlete, their culture and their values. I love team values and our ability to grow and accept each other’s differences. I love being part of the life journey and creating history while helping to empower these train blazing ladies!” -Coach Gina Kehr, Head Coach- University of San Francisco
“I have the opportunity to help these athletes perform at their highest potential. By taking time to learn what each athlete needs individually and work together we are not only able to reach individual goals but also able to succeed as a team.” -Coach Dibley, Head Coach Trine University
“The Trine University Triathlon team not only allowed me to compete in something I loved doing, but also provided me with a community of extraordinary people. When traveling to races, I found myself in the midst of the most supportive group of people who all wanted the best for each other on and off the course, no matter what school or division they were from. I have loved every second of this sport and would do it all again in a heartbeat.” -Alli Smith, Triathlete- Trine University
“Being a dual sport athlete in High School has always been challenging. Both running and swimming require different training plans, however triathlon has provided a way for me to train two sports simultaneously. My triathlon coach uses techniques through periodization that allow me to hit peak performances for my individual sports. She helps me balance my training by avoiding overtraining. I’ve hit PR’s all season in swimming, XC and track. I never really thought about competing in triathlon in college. But the summer before my senior year, I went all in with a coach. I had multiple options to choose from , but attending the University of San Francisco as a D1 triathlete is a dream come true. Hard work, pays off.” - Abbey Lotz, HS Senior recently committed to University of San Francisco
From Sonni Dyer, Head Coach- Queens University:
“I have a few fundamental training principles that we live by. More volume and more intensity is not necessarily “better.” Better volume and better intensity is a key in balancing stress and recovery. There are no secrets.”
Queens University offers women’s Varsity NCAA and has a growing Collegiate Club program as well for men and women. Queens has collected 6x NCAA Women’s Titles, 3 x men’s club tittles.
“Coach Sonni takes a comprehensive approach to training with an emphasis on building a strong foundation in his athletes to make sure they’re ready to handle the demands of training and racing. His approach has allowed me to stay consistently healthy and progress as an athlete during my times at Queens.
